Dr. Deepak Varma is a leading and eminent gastrosurgeon based in Kochi, Kerala. He did his undergraduate studies in Government Medical College Thrissur. After completing MBBS, he did his MS (General Surgery) in the prestigious JIPMER, Pondicherry one of the foremost teaching institutes of India. He was awarded the M Ch (Surgical Gastroenterology) by the University of Kerala after he completed the course from Medical College Thiruvananthapuram.
Subsequently, in the year 2000, he joined P V S Memorial Hospital, Kochi as a senior registrar and started his surgical gastroenterology career. A brief period of his career was spent in the then newly commissioned multispecialty hospital, Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi. He rejoined P V S memorial Hospital as a consultant and completed 10 years of surgical gastro career. He then moved on to Medical Trust Hospital, Kochi as the Head of Department of Surgical gastroenterology and Liver transplantation. Here he was instrumental in developing a viable surgical gastroenterology and Liver transplantation department.
He has received several specific and specialized overseas training in pancreatic and liver cancer treatment.
With over 3000 laparoscopic surgeries to his credit, he is a renowned trainer in the field of laparoscopy. He is an experienced liver and pancreatic surgeon who has treated many complex pancreatic and liver diseases.
